By gifford - Posted on 23 July 2009

London called and Ontario Ultimate players answered with 18 teams competing for the desired London Calling record.

Thank you to all those who competed, in the rain, in the humidity, in the rain, in the sun and in the rain again. There was no room for fair weather atheletes this weekend.

Thanks to all those who volunteered their time and energy and a HUGE thanks to Jill Beuermann and Devin (Hanes) Somers for organizing this tournament.

Proceeds will be donated the London's Unity Project for relief of homelessness.

Final stats to be posted later.

Where do I begin...

First, thank you to the London Ultimate Club for allowing Jill and Me to continue to organize this tournament.  For those of you who do not know, the London Ultimate Club Summer League actually grew out of this tournament, as after we moved the tourney to St. George's, we developed a relationship with them that allowed us to organize a league at their facility, and raised the funds needed to start the league.

Secondly, thank you to London Teams Captains and Players for answering the call and representing London.  Four London teams entered.  One team (That's What She Said) won the Champions division, and another (Olde Tyme Hockey) won the Spirit Divsion.

All weekend long, out of town players commented to me on how friendly and hospitable London players were-so thank you.

And finally, thank you to eveyrone to helped out.  From staffing tables, to helping set up thing, to just picking up garbage, and reclying, and helping to clean up--thank you!  We could not have done it without you.
